" Having a baby is a wonderfully exciting time, but as any parent will know, it also brings with it lots of worry! Suddenly we must make so many decisions about how best to care for our little bundle of joy, which sadly does not come with an instruction manual!

When my daughter, Rose, was born last year, like any new parent, I wanted to do the best for her.
Newborns are so tiny and helpless, and when it comes to bath time, just keeping hold of the slippery little things is a challenge, even before any toiletries are added into the equation. A newborn baby's skin is very delicate, and can be sensitive.
Their hair (if they have any!) will be fine and fluffy. Whilst plain water is sufficient in the early days, before long I found I needed a little more to keep her skin and hair clean. I take great care to choose good quality beauty products for myself, so of course the same goes for my daughter. It was important to me that her bath products did not contain any unnecessary ingredients that may irritate her young skin.
Ease of use was also important, as she didn't always enjoy being washed!

Some babies can suffer with cradle cap which, whilst not harmful, may be unsightly, in which case a little warmed olive oil applied to the scalp can help to loosen and soften the flakes before gently shampooing.
Some parents worry when their babies develop a little bald patch at the back of their scalp, but rest assured, this is just part of the normal moulting process before their next wave of new hairs begin to emerge.
