The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity

The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity raises money to improve the lives of people affected by cancer. They ensure The Royal Marsden’s world-leading nurses, doctors and research teams can provide the very best care and develop life-saving treatments, which are used across the UK and around the world.

2025 marks the ninth year of our partnership with The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, our customers have helped us raise over £80,000. Fundraising from this initiative will help support vital research into breast cancer, led by Mr Gerald Gui, Consultant Breast Surgeon at The Royal Marsden.

Mr Gui’s research includes a focus on risk management strategies in women with a high-risk predisposition to breast cancer, as well as looking to improve evaluation of outcomes after breast reconstruction surgery. The Royal Marsden’s Breast Unit is at the forefront of international research into breast cancer prevention, the detection of patients at high risk, and new treatments. Funding from The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity underpins clinical research at the hospital, supporting pioneering trials, state-of-the-art equipment, purpose-built facilities and world-leading cancer experts. This research is improving the lives of cancer patients at both The Royal Marsden and worldwide.

“As we celebrate the ninth year of this special partnership, we’re incredibly thankful to everyone at Philip Kingsley for their continued and generous support,” says Head of Corporate Partnerships, Siobhan Clarke. “The funds raised through this initiative play a crucial role in advancing Mr Gui’s pioneering breast cancer research at The Royal Marsden. This work is transforming the lives of patients here in the UK and around the world. On behalf of The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, thank you to Philip Kingsley and to every customer who supports this year’s campaign - you are helping to shape the future of cancer research and care.”

Joan Kingsley's Story

How Our Fundraising Helps

fiona

Fiona was 58 when she was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer — a huge shock.

She began chemotherapy quickly, and her tumour initially shrank from 4cm to 0.9cm. But just weeks before her mastectomy, it began growing again, which made Fiona feel incredibly anxious.

“I had my surgery under Mr Gui. It was major surgery, but it was all absolutely fine. I had a nipple-preserving mastectomy with reconstruction, which meant I could look in the mirror afterwards and recognise my body. There was only a small scar under my breast, which I can barely see now.”

“I had the reconstructive surgery during the same procedure, so I was able to wake up with the tumour out and the implants in.”

Fiona will soon return to The Royal Marsden for a follow-up procedure to help improve rippling and dimpling – part of the ongoing support offered to help patients feel as good as possible about their bodies.

Her surgeon, Mr Gui, leads research into improving breast reconstruction and reducing complications after mastectomy – vital work supported by this initiative.

By shopping with Philip Kingsley on the 4th June, you're helping to fund life-changing research – just like Fiona’s.
