What are Anti-Androgens?

Anti-Androgens are prescription-only medications which can be applied topically at a low dosage to your scalp, in order to combat hair thinning. These drugs may help to reduce the adverse effect of the androgens testosterone and dihydrotestosterone (DHT) on your hair follicles. People with hair thinning have a higher than usual sensitivity to androgens, which is what causes their hair follicles to miniaturise in reaction to them. Topical Anti-Androgens may be prescribed to both women and men.

Do Anti-Androgens Work?

When applied to your scalp in the right quantity, Anti-Androgens can be very effective at slowing and stopping hair loss. They are likely to be most effective when used in conjunction with Minoxidil, which dilates your blood capillaries making the absorption of Anti-Androgens into your scalp easier.
